Well, not really. But I was talking to a friend who works at at church. He was telling me they hired a new Presbyterian pastor from Korea. My first reaction? This should be interesting.
Korean Presbyterians tend to be very conservative, and he’s doing ministry at a United Methodist Church and attending a UM affiliated seminary.
Well the friend and the pastor were having a discussion and the pastor said: The fact that there are many women in ministry is a testament that men have failed.
At first, I thought that was a compliment, saying that women can show that they are more than capable to do ministry. But he just meant that male pastors have failed so it’s a shame that women are in ministry.
I don’t know. It just saddens me that many people still think like that. Especially when these people are in leadership positions.
